Who needs mega churches?
Who needs a pastor to shout up to the tiers full of church-goers the message of God?
Who needs to walk into a church and select one of the thousands of seats before you to hear a man in a sharp suit tell you all about heaven and hell?
I can hear it from here.
I can hear it from a tiny church in Draganesti-Olt from a man named Raul.
I can hear it from the kitchen of a church in a fake country called Transnistria from a man named Peter.
I can hear it from a one-room mud-brick church with a dirt floor in the bush of Zimbabwe, Africa from a man known simply as “The Doctor”.
“I can’t tell you how to be a leader, but I can tell you all about how not to be a leader.”
These were his opening words as we sat on that dirt floor in Zimbabwe in that little old church made of bricks of mud dug from the ground.
This was his voice speaking, not a microphone’s.
The clothes he wore cost him no more than 20 American dollars.
He didn’t pass around a donation basket.
He isn’t a tall man-nor is very muscular.
He isn’t particularly articulate, although he speaks English well.
He isn’t old and full of wisdom.
He doesn’t have a mansion hidden somewhere in a rich neighborhood.
He doesn’t roll up to the church in a Jag.
He doesn’t have a stunningly beautiful wife that happens to be a model.
He didn’t go to a private Bible college, nor for that matter, a public Bible college.
He isn’t even a pastor.
He’s just a man that knows the Bible and lives it.
He’s a man that I can listen to for hours and never get tired of hearing what’s being said.
He’s a man that has lived a hard life and gives the glory of his life to God.
He’s a man that lives in a country where you get beaten up or killed for preaching the white man’s religion.
Who would’ve thought that I needed to come all way to Africa to just hear something so real???
I’m learning more from this man that I have ever learned from sitting in a mega church listening to a famous pastor shout out what he learned in Bible college.
I’m learning more and I’m growing because of it and I want more of it.
When this man speaks, I hear God in his words.
And so, I want more of You, God.
I want more real words from You God.
Lord, I want all of You.
Not just a little bit.
Not just something here and there.
I want absolutely ALL of You.
And so I wait in faith.
