This blog is for me as well as anyone who's raising funds for the WR. I like writing and I like typing. It helps me think things through easier and get things out.
I think it's important that through our fundraising for the WR; through our focus on getting support letters out, speaking to churches, family members, businesses and so on-that we don't lose focus on God. I know already what a whirlwind it can be. I'm swamped with a large list of things I can do to raise funds and it's slowly taking up all my free time. I wake up, read a bit, go to work, come home and then spend the next few hours until I go sleep sending out emails and looking up addresses. I've found that I'm spending less time in the Word and more time on everything else.
God WILL be faithful. God knows what we need and He knows the desires of our heart. I'm sure everyone feels called to this trip as well as has their own desire to go on this trip and if we stay faithful to Him, then He's going to bless us. I can justify writing letters and emails all day. I need to raise the funds; I'm running out of time to send them out; I have to get my name and my cause out there. But if we just stop, breath, and pick up the Bible, then our cause is won. God will provide. It says, if we call on Him, then He will be there. Building up our strength and faith in God is so much more important that raising funds. Doesn't it say that if we stay faithful to Him then He will stay faithful to us? This verse is so true. We have to get rid of the tunnel vision where we look only towards funding our trip and no to the One who can fund that trip for us. I'm not saying dont write letters. I'm not saying don't speak to people. I'm saying give our all to fundraising. But give our all and THEN some to God first. That is what is important. That is what God wants for us.
