I’m Jesse, or Jess… whichever you want to call me. Honestly I love being called Jess, I find it more personal. I spent the majority of my life, 13 years, living in the beautiful state of Washington. There’s nothing greater than the PNW, which leads me into my next point, I’m now living in Arizona… the desert. Of all things. I left behind the beautiful green trees, the endless mist and rain, and outrageous hiking adventures to live in the desert where the greenest thing you’ll find is a cactus. Of course, I have an awesome reason to be here, that is the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University where I’m majoring in Broadcast Journalism.
Important bullet points that describe me a little better:
- Once I left Washington I realized how foolish I was to NOT take advantage of the amazing hikes I have in my backyard. So any opportunity I get to visit home I go on some pretty epic hikes. Needless to say, hiking is one of my favorite things ever.
- During the week in my free time, normally in the afternoons, I’m in the gym working out. I love exercising. It’s the absolute best stress reliever for me and keeps me focused.
- I’m a big foodie. Granted, I eat extremely healthy, I love all foods and choose to stay away from most, but I love exploring new restaurants when I feel I’ve earned it!
- I am HUGELY family oriented. Almost anything and everything I do I want to involve my family in some manner. They mean the absolute world to me and endlessly support me in what I do.
- My most favorite thing of all, despite all the incredible things above, are the precious 30 to 45 minutes I spend every morning with Jesus and his beloved word. There’s no better company, no better warmth, joy, or love than His alone. After I’ve had my breakfast, and sipped on my coffee, I crawl back into bed and open up the bible and dwell in his presence. I talk with Him, I share my worries, my trials, my joys and my dreams with Him. He’s the first one I talk to each morning, (besides the “good morning” to my roomie) and the first one to hear everything that’s on my heart. I cherish and look forward to these moments with Him every morning.
For as long as I can remember I have always been in search of something deeper, richer and more fulfilling. The only place I ever found that was when I was in scripture, pursuing Jesus. I’ve always felt as if I’m barely tapping into what God has planned for me, and that is not satisfying enough.
“Why do I want to do The World Race?” A lot of you might ask. 11 countries in 11 months, being the hands and feet of Jesus, spreading the Gospel message, disconnecting from luxuries. Why WOULDN’T I want to do the race is what I’m asking YOU! I desire beyond anything to grow closer to Jesus and allow him to mold me into the woman he is preparing me to be. I want to be completely and radically rocked by Him.
Through this journey I hope you will come alongside me, encourage me, support me, and pray for me. The goal is steep, but I have no doubt that God will provide. Provision doesn’t necessarily mean funds, most importantly I want the emotional support and prayer from all of you. Support me in anyway you can, however you feel the Lord leading you.
Thank you so much for reading, stay tuned for more!!
