This will be a different blog than those I have previously posted. For those that don’t know, my team is currently in a month referred to as Unsung Heroes. What we do throughout this month is search out ministries in the country that we are in and see what they are doing and look into their vision. We are also examining them to see if Adventures in Missions could send a team to work with them in the future. It is also a good way to get out information to other people back home who might want to lend support or work with them. So, each one of us will write a blog on a different ministry that we have visited during this month. The one that I’m writing about is one called New Life in Christ Ministries.
My team stayed in Mukono Uganda for 5 days to visit two ministries. As we were there it was clear that this a very impoverished area and there is a lot of need there. The people are needy and the ministries that reach them are also needy as well. It was here that we met the leader of New Life in Christ ministries, Pastor Rodgers. Rodgers is a person who goes for reaching the unreachable through Christ-centered activities. He also does what he can to show visitors what is taking place in his ministry and also let the people he ministers to, know that they are not alone. Because we were there these people don’t suffer in obscurity. It’s our job to spread awareness to others about what
This ministry focuses on people in slums, inmates in prison, and former inmates who are now in need of some way to support themselves. The reason why Pastor Rodgers is very passionate about ministering to the inmates is because he became a believer in Jesus when he was in prison many years ago. He says that when these men get out of prison they are often rejected by their communities and have no way to earn a living because people will not give them a chance due to their past. He has ministered to prisoners who have come to faith and are now ministers themselves. We have been able to see many aspects to the ministry and met numerous people who the ministry is trying to reach and there is a lot going on in it.
