A month in Mexico has come and gone and we’ve barely scratched the surface.
This World Race is a difficult thing. We go into a new country, pour into the people, then leave. Many of us leave our hearts in a place, like Meagan. Her heart burns for the people here. She spent 9 months in Matamoros with the First Year Missionaries a year ago. Ever since, Mexico has been ingrained in her heart. She has led worship in many of the church services here in Palenque. Watching her worship in Spanish gives me chills. Passion pours from every part of her as she sings. She truly seems at home and I hurt for her that we are leaving.
Shawna is another one who astounds me. During church service last week a couple drunks stumbled in off the street. Quite frankly, I was annoyed. My initial reaction was: Send them home to sleep it off… then they can return. But not Shawna. She sat with them for hours just loving on them. Although they were incoherent to the world, she still believed in the power of God to speak to them. So she did. She spoke Truth and Life into them. And you know what? All of them have come to the Lord and come to every service.
She believe God could do it and He did.

What of Mexico will we take with us into the next year? For me, it’s the faces. The many faces of the kids we played with or the ones who just called out “Hola” as we passed by.
I will also remember the strong presence of the Lord and the plans He has for this place. He gave Pastor Nestor the keys to Palenque and confirmed it yesterday.
How incredible is our God!
