I can't believe that our time in the Philippines as come and gone already! Time has flown by so fast. I absolutely loved the Philippines, we ended up staying there for 6 week instead of 4 weeks and I'm glad we did.We worked along side KIM Ministries, Kids International Ministries. This organization is incredible, they have multiple ministries going on and they allowed us to make our own schedule and work in the ministries we felt God was calling us too.
Since I can remember I've wanted to go into the medical field and lucky enough two of my teammates are nurses. So the three of us started up a pregnancy screening clinic for the ladies who lived in the area.
Every Thursday morning we would do a short devotion. The rest of the morning would consist of taking the woman's weight measurements and blood pressure we would also listen to there babies heart beat and provide them with a week of prenatal vitamins. The first week 14 woman came out, second week 21, third week 25 by then end of the 6 weeks we had around 30 woman come to the program.
In total six woman had there babies while we were there and we got to help assist a midwife in delivering one of them!!!
The mom was only 18 years old and she decided to have her baby at home. The night she went into labor we went to her house, prayed and visited for a while. We finally left and weren't sure if we were going to have the opportunity to be there for the birth. The next morning I was woken up by my teammate saying "she is going to have her baby, lets go!" I jumped out of bed as fast I could. We arrive at the her house and entered the small room just off the kitchen was full of people, Her mother, sisters and children and the midwife and 4 of us. There was lots of people in one little room but the they didn't want us to leave. By 11 am a beautiful baby boy was born! Its was so incredible to see God work in this situation, the baby had been breech and the mom still delivered with no complications, Praise God!
The rest of the six weeks my schedule consisted of construction most mornings helping out in the nursery one day a week, Street kids Thursday nights and helping out with as many feedings as I could. I was also apart of the worship team.
The past 6 weeks has been so busy but through the busy schedule God has been teaching me how to listen when he speaks and he continues to help me live confidently in who I am and who he has created me to be.
