My team and I just finished our first month in Kenya! I can't believe that the first month of the World Race is over. Uganda here I come.
The first couple days in Uganda the whole Y Squad joined together in Jinja at a place called Adrift Adventures, a rafting company on the Nile River. We got to relax and share with each other about our experiences in Kenya. I`ve been able to Skype my family, catch up on some sleep, have a nice hot shower, oh and I got to raft the Nile! 🙂
I can’t believe this is my life right now! Never thought I would have the chance to raft the Nile, the same Nile that baby Moses floated on.

Exodus 2: 1-3
About this time, a man and a woman from the tribe of Levi got married. The woman became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She saw that he was a special baby and kept him hidden for three months. But when she could no longer hide him, she got a basket made of papyrus reeds and water proofed it with tar and pitch. She put the baby in the basket and laid it among the reeds along the bank of the Nile River.

I signed up for the all-day extreme rafting package! We rafted a total of 8 rapids, 26 Kilometers. Four rapids in the morning, lunch break and then rafted the last four rapids in the afternoon. Lunch was incredible, we paddled to shore and hiked up some steep mud steps to the top of the river bank where we ate a delicious meal in an African hut with an amazing view of the Nile. The Nile is so beautiful, birds everywhere and lush vegetation overflows the river banks. Rafting the Nile definitely reminded me how amazing and powerful God is. That he created something so powerful yet gentle.

The levels of rapids are graded by classes 1 to 6.

Class 1 and 2 = Easy
Class 3 = Average
Class 4 = Hard
Class 5 = Extreme
Class 6 = Unraftable

We rafted two class 3 rapids and the rest were class 4 and 5. One of the class 5 rapids we rafted was called the Bad Place and I survived it! I loved every part of it, from floating down the calm sections and enjoying the beauty of God’s Creation to the multiple times when our raft flipped and being tossed around in the powerful rapids. Pretty sure my raft flipped 4 times, it was awesome!
