Hello Family and Friends!
I was tagged in fellow blogger Rachel Tanner's blog to answer 11 Questions.
Her blog is called Flute Cups & Ampersands.
I found it to be quite fitting that the the number of questions equals the number of countries I am going to. ๐ May you get to know me a little better through some of these answers. Enjoy!
* My next blog will be a little more focused and in depth as I will begin to introduce each of the countries that I will be serving in. But today, I shall keep things lighthearted and fun!
1. What's a song that has a lot of meaning for you and why? (You could even post a YouTube video of the song if you want us to jam along with you.)
I have a lot. Here are a few:
- Reminder to love unconditionally.
“ You know me.” –Steffany Frizzell
- I listen to this song when I feel inadequate. It reminds me that I AM enough. My Abba, "hung the stars, and moved the sea… and still [he knows] me"
“The More I Seek You” – Steffany Frizzell + Spontaneous Worship
- This song wrecks me. It doesn’t matter when or where I am when I close my eyes and listen to it… it takes me to a place of vulnerability and stillness with God. The passion and raw vocals behind this worship set puts everything in my world into perspective.
2. The name of my blog, Fluted Cups & Ampersands, contains my favorite words to say. Do you have any favorite words?
- Favorite Words:
- Snuggle
- Samesies
- Swindle
- Sliver
- Centipede
- Absolutely
- Quell
- Nimble
- Anemone
- Trepidation
- Rumba
- Encroach
- Barista
- Faux
- Dilapidated
- Pretentious
- Infallible
- Bodacious
- Plethora
- Copious
- Tumultuous
3. Make up an acronym for anything in your world. (Example: FAQ)
PHF – I am a PHF. “Professional High Fiver.”
QOHH— “And they shall call me… Queen of Hand Hugs.”
4. If your life had a theme song, what would it be?
“ The best part of waking up… is folgers fresh brewed coffee in your cup”
Because, well…. I love coffee more than I probably should.
on a more realistic note –
My theme song would be:
“Hand in My Pocket” by Alanis Morissette.
This song really depicts how I go through life. I am constantly picking apart both sides of every argument, evaluating the perspectives that others have, and fighting with the conflicts of what I think vs how I really feel. I am a walking contradiction with the best intentions…trying to figure it all out. Every day there are moments of complete clarity and confusion, anger and joy, focus and chaos that go on in my heart and I am trying to make sense of it all. What I am learning is that life will never be all of one thing or another, but rather a balance. I am seeking out that balance daily, and struggle with it immensely.
“And what it all comes down to
Is that I haven't got it all figured out just yet
'cause I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is giving the peace sign”
5. What are THREE of the most awesome things about ME?
(See, NOW I'm fishing for compliments. And if you only know me from my blog, then just go by what you know about me from the blog. Easy like Sunday morning.)
Rachel, these are three awesome things about you:
- You are sarcastic and witty
- You’re extremely intelligent and perceptive of others.
- You have a creative perspective of the world around you and continuously seek out new and innovative ways of looking at things.
6. On crowd funding websites like IndieGoGo where people raise money, there are often incentives that the creator gives for the amount you invest. Most are light hearted and personal, like a personal thank you card. Other examples: If you invest $10, you'll get an advanced copy of this film or cd or book chapter. If you donate $50, you get a personal phone call and my first born child.
So here's my question – in all seriousness, what would be some incentives that you would go for? Your cup of tea, incentive style. (Even if you don't answer the rest of the questions, you'd be doing me a HUGE favor just by answering this one…in a comment, email, Facebook, whatever. ANYONE can answer. Please? Huge favor to me. I'm winking and smiling at all you internet people…you just can't see it. But I'm being very sly.)
Incentives that would totally catch my eye:
- Handmade painting/print of something – song lyrics, artwork, favorite quote, etc.
- Graphic cause T- shirt of some sort
- Download of an album/single
- Piece of unique jewelry of some sort
- STICKERS to put on my laptop
- Posters/Calendars
7. What are FOUR of the most awesome things about YOU?
- I am affectionate
- I am perceptive to other’s feelings
- I am driven
- I can make people laugh
8. Write a short lil poem. As short as you'd like.
A short lil poem. ๐
9.Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Not a clue. I have a few different visions, but ultimately I know that my life is going to be turned upside down on The World Race and I will not be the same. My ambitions, passions, and purpose will all be completely transformed and I am open to those changes so my future is a white blank page right now.
At 33, here are some possibilities:
- Long term int’l missionary working in a rehabilitation center for women recovered from sex slavery and human trafficking. I love to encourage others and have always seen myself playing a role in empowering women to see the beauty in themselves, as it is something I struggle with daily.
- Beginning a marriage with someone that loves God, loves others, has a positive and passionate outlook on life, believes in the commitment of marriage, loves me for who I am, and is secure in himself.
- Single and living somewhere like Colorado/South Carolina/Chattanooga/Nashville/Seattle and working in a career field with a large “networking” focus (PR, Event Coordinator, Consultant) or Training for a large organization that has a social purpose – Invisible Children, Target: One-Sight, United Way, Etc.
- Living on a farm out in the country somewhere with chickens, horses, cats, big dogs, my own vegetable garden and art barn/studio.
- Running my own coffee/local art shop. (pretty much be Maggie Gylenhall’s character in the movie Stranger than Fiction. ๐ )
10. Write a joke or a pun about anything. But YOU (or the people around you, if you're near people) have to come up with it. No Google-ing.
I have racked my brain for hours, and I have not been able to come up with a pun or joke. Sorry to disappoint :/
11. We're halfway through the year. Make at least one half-year resolution.
My Half-year resolution —
- I will begin to internalize that I am me for a reason and learn to accept that my path – body – mind – instincts – are what they are for a unique purpose.
- I will remind myself everyday that I AM ENOUGH. God designed me in his image, and for that I should be thankful. I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
