“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Jeremiah 29:11
Hola!! Saludes desde Nicaragua! I would love to begin sharing on the wonderful things God has been doing from the moment we hit Granada to the small experiences we’ve seen through door to door ministries. As we said our final goodbye’s in Costa Rica, we went our way on a long 8-hour bus ride to Granada. Debrief was a moment of reflection and rest as we prepared our hearts for what was to come and release everything else that happened in the previous month.
Debrief brought me a lot of time to reflect as an individual and as a team. It was incredibly relaxing as we explored the city of Granada and had the whole squad head to Apoyo Laguna for an afternoon. That was a fun adventure that God granted us the privilege to be a part of. Through exploring the city of Granada, there was a homeless woman laying on the street with a bad foot. She was unable to walk and could barely move on her own. Our team and I had the opportunity to lay hands over her and get to know her a little more. She was in complete thankfulness of taking the time out of our day to say hello and pray over her circumstances. One of my teammates was kind enough to bring her a cheeseburger which later inspired me to gift her a dress I brought from back home. She wanted a dress that she could walk into church for Christmas Eve. Due to her privacy we didn’t take any pictures, but the experience of seeing her eyes shining with thankfulness will forever be imprinted on my heart.
As we headed to Chinadenga on our school bus all I could think of was how easy it is for us to settle for less. We settle for that which does not satisfy instead of going to the source of abundant life. As I’ve mentioned previously, these moments I’m living in are an answer to my prayers, yet I could think on so many other examples where I doubt God’s goodness. We become paralyzed and afraid to dream big thinking that the Creator of Heaven and Earth won’t give us what we desire. We don’t trust Him enough. How wrong is that thinking. He desires to give you every good thing and more. I encourage each one of you to dream big and ask God for BIG things. Sure enough, it might look different than traveling the world but, it will be exactly what you need. Dream big, and don’t settle for less. Whatever the circumstance may be, remember that you have a God at your side and He is for you. He has incredible plans for your life, allow Him to show up.
This blog post may be a bit on the shorter side of my previous ones, but I hope that it encourages each one of you not to settle for anything but, God’s best. Don’t’ settle for the easy. Allow God to do the work he wants to do in your life. Bring Him your all and seek Him continually. You’ll see what great plans He has for you.
