PURA VIDA!

Welcome to my first blog post outside of the US!! Woohoo!! God is GOOD! Through your prayers and financial support, I’ve managed to fundraise over $10,000.00 and hop on a plane to Costa Rica! Say what!? This week has been nothing but an amazing adventure filled with testimonies, stories, music, and lots of LOVE. I first arrived to Costa Rica, on Wednesday 10/5/16.. Walking those first steps on Costa Rican soil brought me so much joy of the work that was coming our way. We arrived to our ministry home location for the next month and it left my teammates and I in SHOCK. We are BLESSED! Beds, WIFI, hot showers, full kitchen, will be a normal for this month! The Lord really blessed us with an amazing place to stay as well as an amazing ministry.

Our ministry for this month is called Transforma. Transforma is a ministry to empower women by teaching them Kingdom values, and help those that are living in poverty. They seek to help many young mothers as well. My team and I are currently filming a campaign video for a law that could potentially change the millions of lives in Costa Rica! This campaign will be a social patent for families living in poverty looking to build their own business and provide for their families. Once we complete the video, I’ll be sure to include a link on my next blog!  I’ve been blessed to hear the testimonies of countless Costa Rican’s who’ve completely surrendered and trusted Jesus for their well being. I’ve realized that through the States, we sometimes don’t realize how God is furthering his kingdom in the nations. The miracles I heard were things I never had encountered before. Our God is a miracle maker! He is near to the brokenhearted. He is with those that have nothing yet give everything. Some of my teammates and I had lunch with one of the members of Transforma, and our hearts were filled with joy and excitement to share the goodness of our Lord. As we continued on with the first week, God brought us to a local church in San Jose, called New Life/New Glory. Their worship was a lot like back home, but in Spanish! Our service was on being a new creation and letting go of our old selves. It’s so easy for us to go with what is comfortable. Being selfish, lazy, prideful, these are all examples of “bad fruit” yet we have been called to walk and live with our new self!

Going on the 1st week of detox from technology, I have started seeking the Lord’s counsel towards how much social media or technology is appropriate for me. It’s safe to say that no technology after being on it 100% of my time is slightly difficult to balance. This week I’ve made the effort not to use social media and it has given me countless of opportunities to use my free time for the Lord or strike up conversations with others! As I continue to seek wisdom from our Lord, please pray that my heart will stay present wherever I go. Not looking what I left in Chicago or what’s to come, but simply be where my feet have been planted. With that being said, I hope you enjoyed a taste of Costa Rica and the adventures that have come our way! Until next time!

You are Loved!

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. Colossians 2:6-7
