Hey Everyone!
Thailand is beautiful and warm! 🙂
I had a really hard time saying goodbye at the airport. And I woke up that morning thinking “I don’t want to go anymore.” I really hate saying goodbyes and that was what I was dreading the most. Leaving my family. But I was committed and couldn’t back out. I would have more scared of not going when God said go then of staying home.
The travel days wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. The 5 hr flight from Chicago to San Francisco was horrible. So I was dreading the 14 hr flight. But it went by really fast. Which was awesome. Then we got on our connecting flight and I pretty much slept through that one. Finally, we landed in Thailand! Our traveling wasn’t over yet though. We all got on a bus right after we landed and 9 hrs later we made it. I really enjoyed the bus ride though. You get to see a lot more of the country and you can also move around more.
After a few days at the “Zion Hostel” to rest up, we headed out to a ranch owned by a family who runs an incredible ministry called “Free Burma Ranger” They go into Burma and reach out to those who have lost their home through the war and they also visit the villages that are in the war zone. The rangers work in groups of five and when/if everyone needs to evacuate they are the last to leave.” Never run and never surrender” is part of their motto. They provide medical and counseling care. But their main goal is to share the Gospel and pray for them. Check out their website at freeburmaranger.org They were headed out when we got there, but they opened up their home to us. Us racers slept in our tent out among the mango trees though. We spent 4 nights there. Here is training camp in a nutshell-
Hiking, losing half of our bags and shared everything for a day, sessions, food, prayer, crossfit, packing, worship, teamwork activity and a lot of fun!
We are now currently at the hostel wrapping up training/launch sessions. We’ve been able to walk around town and enjoy the culture during free time.
The fusion squad has bonded incredibly well this past week and it has been an amazing experience. I’m on a team with 5 wonderful girls. We will be working together wherever we do ministry. God has been teaching me so much and has constantly shown me His love and compassion. Be on the lookout for the next post cause I will be sharing what God has done in my life so far.
