Here’s an update on what’s going on in my life. In 2012-2013 while I was out in NY participating in the discipleship program called LIFT, God really placed on my heart a passion for world missions. He gave me a desire to go and serve Him wherever that may be. To leave behind the comforts I have and shine the light of Christ in the world. Well, God has given me an opportunity to do that this coming January (sooner then I thought) through Adventures in Missions. I will be part of a program called The World Race, in which a group of approximately 8 people will travel to 11 countries in 11 months. In all 11 countries we will be partnering with churches and people in the communities. At every location we will be partnered with and hosted by someone who grew up in the area and knows the culture and community. What we will be doing is not finalized and may change at the last minute, but we will be doing things like Vacation Bible Schools for the kids, working at orphanage, helping and praying with those who have suffered through human trafficking and coming along side churches with whatever they need done, whether we paint a room or lead Sunday school.
This has not been an easy decision for me to make, it’s one thing to say that you’ll follow God where He leads and it is completely another thing to act on it when God does call you. I know that God will enable me to do whatever He brings my way. It’s says in Isaiah 49 “I will make youas a light for the nations, that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.” I’m trusting that God will provide my every need physically, emotionally, spiritually and financially.
So first and foremost, I ask for your prayers. It will be difficult for me as this is a new and unknown step of faith for me. I don’t really like change and this will be a big one. Pray that my heart would be prepared for the challenges that God will walk me through. Pray that I would have a servant, loving heart to share with those who have no hope. Also, please pray that God would provide the funds needed for this trip. The overall cost is $16,000. It’s daunting to think about how much it is, but God doesn’t have a limit on what He can do.
