Everywhere.
It is easy to visit a country for a short time and act like a foreigner, not taking the opportunity to invest wholeheartedly in the people or area, knowing in the back of your mind that you will soon be leaving. It is easy to walk through this journey like that or to even walk through life like that. Maybe we close our hearts a little too much. Maybe we are a bit too comfortable with “easy”. Maybe I’m a bit too concerned about myself.
Either way, time does pass quickly. And we allow the amount of time to dictate our lives rather than allowing GOD to move as we live in each moment, in each second, making the most out of the gift of each day and the abundance of opportunities to love one another….to unite.
God has called us into this unity. And more and more HE has revealed what this unity is like. The third day I was in Cambodia, God placed Romans 15:5-6 on my heart on which I spent time meditating on.
It states, May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Even as I biked to the learning center I couldn’t stop but think about this type of unity. And on my way, a gentleman on his motorcycle turned sharply into a driveway, just off the dusty road I had been traveling. I found myself biking straight through the cloud of dirt and dust that was the only reminder of his travels. After passing through this dust storm, I was not surprised to notice that I was now covered head to toe in a thin layer of the dirt. But I realized that as the dirt covered me, I felt the history of the area. I felt the heart of the country. It was as if I had lived here for a long time, like this was home. There was a connection. I didn’t feel as if I were temporarily in a foreign country, but that I was home. I didn’t see strangers, but brothers and sisters.

It is a beautiful thing, this unity, and I know there is much more to it, as GOD continues to reveal more. But may we walk in this unity together with one heart and one mouth giving GOD the utmost praise for who HE is.
