I sat in a living room talking with a friend who I had really felt a connection with since our first meeting in Haiti. The interesting thing is that we had only met twice. And yet, God placed her deep in my heart. Her name is Estelle and her eyes tell a story of struggle and hope. Her hands hold on as though she is grasping for something more. Her voice speaks gently and honestly.

There was a group of us sitting with her, sharing more about who we are and talking about God’s work in our lives. It was a great time just to visit with her again. And in the middle of the conversation, I heard her, but most importantly I listened to God.

She spoke of a broken heart and loss of trust in those around her. She shared stories of love that was lost and shared a part of her past with those of us she just met. It was a deep part of who she is. She revealed so much through this conversation. God heard her and God asked me to speak, to share the part of my past that has brought me shame and embarrassment, to share of my past that has caused hurt all wrapped around a broken heart. He asked me to share, so that HE could speak.

I shared.

HE spoke.

There are events in our lives that cause pain, that break us, but God restores and uses even these moments for HIS glory.  I shared hope and love. I shared about how God showed me what love is and about the ONE who never leaves or abandons us. I shared, but GOD spoke.

And if any of the pain or hurt that life brings can bring such glory to HIM, then I will gladly walk through them knowing GOD is with me and it is all for HIM.
