This is what God revealed to me this morning as I closed my eyes…

I saw a shell being washed upon the shore.  It would be discovered, examined by the finder, and then rejected and tossed back into the ocean, to face the beating of the waves.  The water washes over it breaking it down more and more.  Over and over again it is washed upon the shore, discovered, examined, rejected, and tossed back in.  Over and over again it breaks and cracks more and more until it is small….until a weak spot gives way in the center and a hole through the shell is created…until it no longer wants to be washed onto the shore.  It is then that the waves relent and it rests in their gentle sway…broken, small, done.  As a fisherman walks in the shallow water, He discovers it.  He scoops it up in his net and with gentle hands sifts it from the rest of the debris.  He washes it off in the water and places it saftely in his hand.  With his other hand he reaches in his pocket to retrieve a pearl necklace he has made for his love.  Threading the end of the string through the center of the shell, He smiles and ties it off.  On the other end of the pearl necklace is a hook, a fishing hook.  With joy he brings the shell and hook together to fasten the necklace and he rejoices for his treasure now complete.

I thought about this image as I went about my morning.  And as I passed by our kitchen door I saw water that had been splashed on the floor.  The colors reflected from the sky in the puddles reminded me of the blue of the ocean and the orange of the sand.  God is in every moment.  HE speaks to us in everything.  HIS love expressed even in the splash of water.

I pray that the waves crash over me until I am complete in HIM.  It will be painful, but HE is my hearts desire.
