So here is the thing. After being completely convicted by a friend recently, my eyes are opened and heart refreshed. Praise God!
You see, support raising is not easy for me. Surprised to hear that from someone who has a masters in Philanthropy? Ha! Well it isn’t easy for me to declare either. Who finds it enjoyable to ask for funds, for support? There are some people out there who this comes easily to, but definitely not me. And I know I am not alone in this area.
But enough excuses! I am not doing well in support raising. I will admit that. And I also must admit that I have taken the joy out of the process by making it all about raising funds. Yes, I let the deadlines get to me, the daily checking of my account frustrate me, and lost focus.
So what is this new perspective I am sharing with you…
Money is an afterthought! Now, that probably doesn’t seem right considering I need financial
support. But it truly should be an afterthought in this process. I am not here to sell a program, to sell myself, or to even sell a cause. I want to share! I want to share what God is doing. I want to offer! I want to offer the opportunity to be a part of His work. I want to give! I want to give Glory to God for His work in the world and our lives. Let those I share with pray and ask God how they can be a part of HIS work. And if it is financial, wonderful, if it is through prayer, fabulous, if He stirs within them to take action, great. If their hearts are reached and praise given to God then it has been successful! And the JOY has returned!
I am excited about the opportunities I am working on to reach people, so keep your eyes open.
