My teammate and I were on a mission: absolutely HAD to find the chocolate empanadas that we’d spotted the night before. And somewhere during this crusade of ours came the unexpected reminder of the apostles in Acts who’d traveled throughout various lands, crossing paths with the people whom God sovereignly placed in their step. Philip met the Ethiopian man riding in a chariot down the road to Jerusalem. Ananias met Saul who was on his way to persecute the believers in Damascus. We met Christian at his chocolate empanada shop in Banos, Ecuador.

This week God gave us a sobering reminder: Ministry is right in front of you. I can’t say for sure what will come of the short conversation we had with Christian that day. But I’m thankful that God gave us boldness and that despite our broken spanish and misconjugated verbs, the sheep indeed hear their Father’s voice. So, whether it be on our 30 hr. bus rides, 20 hr. airport layovers, or at the local chocolate empanada shops, may we never be ashamed of the gospel for it is His power unto the salvation of everyone who believes.
