Jeremiah 31:14 And my people will be satisfied with My goodness.
Man, this is the struggle of life sometimes right! We seek to find satisfaction in people, in our work, in our hobbies, our children , in things temporal, things that fade, and change.
I found my heart wandering around a lot these past couple of weeks. I noticed I was expecting/wanting a lot from the people around me, wanting them to be something to me that they were never meant to be.
So, I asked the Lord what was going on in my heart. I thought it was an intimacy issue, that maybe He was calling me deeper by revealing the dissatisfaction of where I was at., and that I was looking to the wrong well to drink from. We had an afternoon off the other day so I spent a while listening.
I love that the Lord reveals what’s in my heart when I have no idea what’s going on with me. He showed that my heart was wanting to belong to someone, to be chosen, known and pursued. Something put there by Him and meant only to be satisfied by Him. He took me to Jeremiah 31:31-37 where He talks about the new covenant He is going to make with Israel (Jesus!), and promises on Himself that He’s going to be faithful to bring it to pass. So He reminded me that He is faithful, and unchanging, He can be trusted, He’s the only One who never fails. He looks at me and says I’m His and no others, and I can trust that with all of my heart.
This morning He took me to Isaiah 44: 5-8
“This one will say ‘I am the Lord’s; and that one will call on the name of Jacob; and another will write on his hand, ‘belonging to the Lord,’ and will name Israel’s name with honor. “Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: ‘I am the first and I am the last, And there is no God besides Me. Who is like Me? Let him proclaim and declare it; Yes, let him recount to Me in order, from the time that I established the ancient nation. And let them declare the things that are coming and the events that are going to take place. Do not tremble and do not be afraid; Have I not long since announced it to you and declared it? And you are my witnesses. Is there any God besides me, Or is there any other Rock? I know of none.”
