Take Me In… (Kutless)

Take me past the outer courts
Into the Holy Place
Past the brazen altar
Lord I want to see your face
Pass me by the crowds of people
And the Priests who sing your praise
I hunger and thirst for your righteousness
But it’s only found in one place

Take me into the Holy of Holies
Take me in by the blood of the Lamb
Take me into the Holy of Holies
Take the coal, touch my lips, here I am

This is what I want, plain and simple. I want to be in the Holy of Holies. But, how do I get there? One way is through prayer.

I have learned so much about prayer over the past several weeks.  Specifically in the past two days, the Lord has shown me 2 ways that he uses prayers.  One way is for encouragement and uplifting of believers and the other is as a gift to those who may or may not be a believer in order to draw them in to the kingdom (intercession). I will write about the first one in this blog and save the other for my next blog.

Yesterday, our team spent nearly 2 hours praying for one another and offering words of encouragement to one another.  We took turns praying over one another and had someone record the prayers.  I loved every minute of it. I am learning so much about how to discern God’s voice and leading.  It was wonderful to sit and listen to God and what He wanted to tell each member of our team.  We were able to sit with God in the Holy of Holies.  I was very encouraged after this time and I’d like to share what it is that the Lord spoke to me. God said:

*Follow me and I will lead you
*You are fully equipped to lead your team
*My mercies are new every morning
*God knows my desires, but now is for a different season and purpose
*God has raised me up as a leader for such a time as this
*The Lord has filled me with wisdom and grace
*Jeremiah 1:4-9
*He loves to hear me praise Him!
*He is rewarding my faithfulness!

Many people are skeptical when the phrase “hear the voice of God” is used.  The truth is that if you are a believer, then you do hear God’s voice.  It is a still, small voice and our ears have to be tuned to hear it. It is not necessarily an audible voice, though it can be.  So, when I speak of “hearing God’s voice” or “listening to God” it is my learning to heed the urgings of the Spirit in my heart – not necessarily a booming voice from heaven – although I would not put such a thing past Him!

Oswald Chambers says, “The destiny of my spiritual life is such identification with Jesus Christ that I always hear God, and I know that God always hears me (John 11:41).  If I am united with Jesus Christ, I hear God, by the devotion of hearing all the time.  A lily, or a tree, or a servant of God, may convey God’s message to me.  What hinders me from hearing is that I am taken up with other things.  It is not that I will not hear God, but I am not devoted in the right place.  I am devoted to things, to service, to convictions, and God may say what He likes but I do not hear Him. The child attitude is always, ‘Speak, Lord, for Thy servant heareth.’  If I have not cultivated this devotion of hearing, I can only hear God’s voice at certain times; at other times I am taken up with things – things which I say I must do, and I become deaf to Him, I am not living the life of a child. Have I heard God’s voice today?”
