Just Rest
Exodus 33:14
The LORD replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
The other day I decided to take a bath to try to relax. To be honest taking a bath to relax never worked for me. You see, my life has been so used to flight or fright mode that resting was hard. So many times I would fill a bath tub with hot water, get inside and then get out within 5 minutes because my mind was so busy thinking about what to do next. Now that is not resting at all!!!
This time began like the normal, I got inside the tub and then started thinking about all the task I needed to get done. Well suddenly I heard God speak to me and say “Just rest, I got this”. I kept hearing over and over the phrase “Just Rest” and for the first time ever my mind was clear and I began to rest spiritually and mentally.
I cannot begin to describe to you how it felt to rest in His presence but it was beautiful!
That night I finally understood what it meant to simply rest in God. How often do I get so worried with things that I forget to rest in Him. Most children live life carefree not really worrying about the responsibilities as an adult would. As a child your parents have your back. I am learning to have the same mentality as childlike faith in knowing that everything’s going to be ok because my Father in heaven has my back.
Resting to me is a form of worship. I am so glad that God is teaching me the art of resting in Him.
