Well to start off, my name’s Jennifer, but most people call me Jen.  I’m 24 and I am born and raised a Minnesota girl.  As much as I don’t like a blizzard in March (which is happening right now!) I couldn’t imagine living in a state without a change of seasons.  I currently live in Duluth and I work at a clothing store’s corporate office.

Here’s a little background info:  I grew up in Blaine, MN…which is just north of Minneapolis.  I’ve always been into sports…gymnastics, track, and competition cheerleading.  I went to school up in Duluth and graduated in December 2007.    After graduating college  I worked for a short time as a personal assistant, which was one of the most challenging times of my life yet I learned so much about who I am and what kind of person I wanted to end up like.
I am extremely close to my entire family…my parents, my older brother, Gary and my older sister, Katie who is married to Aaron.  Katie and Aaron have a daughter, Matea, who is from Ethiopia.

my dad, mom, sister, brother-in-law and brother                                                                       my niece, Matea
                                                                                            my grandma and me

All of the girls in my family are extremely loud, especially when you get us all together…but don’t ask us to be musical unless we have a wooden spoon in our hand and the music blared so loud you can’t hear us.  The boys are the musicians…my dad is a music teacher and writes and produces songs and background music, my brother was in a band throughout college, and my brother-in-law owns an online music store and plays for our church’s worship team.

I grew up in a Christian home and my parents always encouraged us to get involved in our church and grow in our faith.  I was very involved in our church through high school and went to Mexico several times with my uncle’s church for mission trip.  That didn’t really continue on through college.  I continued to go to church but wasn’t really growing in my faith until about my junior year when I joined a small group with a group of women from my church.  I learned so much through all of them and started to take my faith more seriously.  I ended up traveling to Poland with a few of them for a mission trip and really figured out the importance of a relationship with God.  Although I know I have a lot to learn, I have grown a lot in my faith.

Here are a few other facts about me:
*I love the show 24.  I have seen every episode of the 1st 6 seasons on DVD with my sister and Aaron…we even have designated 24-watching spots in their living room.
*I knit.
*I absolutely LOVE birthdays.  My family celebrates our birthday month so I’m sorry in advance to all of you who have to hear me talk about my “birthday month” for all of August.  🙂
*I am also quite fond of Christmas…ok, that’s an understatement.  I’ve been known to have my tree up on November 1st and literally can’t sleep for the entire week before Christmas because I’m so excited.  I don’t even know what it is but I just love anything and everything about the Christmas season.
*I have a cat named Buddy.  I got him when he was 8 from an older lady.  He’s actually more like a dog than a cat…he meets me at the door, begs at the table, cuddles with me, even gets into the garbage.
*I love fashion…especially dresses, shoes, and big jewelry.  On the flip side, I never buy anything that is not on sale and I’d rather buy consignment items than new ones.
*I love to run.  I was a sprinter through college until I did a half marathon with my mom and got hooked on long distance running.  I am currently training for my 5th half marathon and for Duluth’s spring trail racing series.
*All of the Flavin girls’ favorite movie is “You’ve Got Mail”.  It is the perfect movie for every emotion.
