“Love is not a feeling in your chest…it is bending down to wash another’s feet…”
Greetings from Colorado! For over a year now I have lived out in the Pike National Forest, on a ranch that daily reminds me of God’s astounding beauty. I could have never predicted that being a part of this ranch and the tremendous community here would impact my life so profoundly. I am challenged to die to myself daily in order to live out our mission of impacting those who come across our cattle guard. I have learned what true community looks like- the good, bad, and the ugly; I have learned to love others with the kind of grace that only comes from Jesus; I have also learned that I have a burning passion to share the love of Christ with others. Because of this growing passion, I believe that now I know where the Lord is leading me once my time is finished here at the ranch. In January 2009 I will leave for The World Race!
When I first heard of The World Race, my heart almost jumped out of my chest! It is a mission trip offering adventure, travel, and community. But more than that, it will challenge me to experience God through desperation, complete reliance, and total giving of self with the purpose of being His hands and feet throughout the world. The trip travels to 11 countries in 11 months, partnering with organizations that are already doing great work in each country for the name of Christ. Along with this outpouring, Adventures In Missions (sending organization) makes sure that we are poured into as well. We will be strengthened and encouraged all along the way by coaches and speakers who will be flown to the various destinations.
If there is one thing I have learned while on this journey of faith, it is that I can’t do it alone. So, I would like to invite you to be my support! I would be honored if you would commit to partner with me in this journey. There are two crucial areas. The first is prayer…I can do nothing without prayer! I would love to have you intercede on my behalf on a regular basis. The second way to support me is by your financial support. The cost of the trip is $14,000. This can be contributed to by either a one-time donation or by set monthly amounts. For example, fifteen people pledging $50 a month for the 11 months of the trip (Jan- Nov ’09) covers over half of the total. My hope is that by raising this support through friends like you, my faith will be strengthened in the Lord’s ability to provide for all of my needs! Please be prayerful about how the Lord may be leading you in both types of support.
Please know that I am humbled and excited that the Lord wants to use me in this way. I truly believe that in pursuing this mission trip, I will be able to stand before God as a voice among the silence, crying out for justice and grace on behalf of others. I will be praying for you too as we begin this new leg of the journey together. God bless you, friend.
