I’ve been asked a time or two about the Race, and I figure’d I’d share the DL (down low, incase you didn’t know…) while everyone waits for my support letters…you know, because they are coming. (JUST A WARNING!)
The World Race, as many of you know is an 11 month mission trip to 11 different countries.
Each month, my team and I will be working with a local ministry or church doing whatever they need. It may be working in orphanages, feeding street children, going into bars and sharing about Jesus- you name it. Going into the race, I have no clue what each month will hold outside of knowing which country I’ll be in.
Essentially, I’ll be a missionary for a year.
The way it works is, when you apply, you apply for a certain route in a certain launch month. For me, I chose January 2014 Route 4. The countries included are:
Peru, Bolivia, Chile, India, Nepal, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malawi, & Zambia.
I will be traveling to each country with a squad made up of anywhere from 30-70 people, and my “team” of 7-10 people will be the group I do ministry with each month.
When you donate to my account, you are helping fund my year as a missionary.
In total, I need to raise $16,243
BEFORE YOU START CRYING, THIS IS WHAT IT COVERS:
All team costs while I’m on the race, being:
Food, lodging, and air, land & sea travel. It also covers administrative, setup, coaching, debrief, and training costs prior to and at the start of the Race.
I also included the cost of race insurance. You know, incase I need a hospital or die. Please, no death.
Your money will not:
Help me go bungee jumping, pet tigers, buy gifts, be “spending money”, etc, and…it IS tax deductible! WOOHOO!
Think about it this way: Most people spend about $2,000 or MORE for a TWO WEEK mission trip. This puppy is 11 months.
In order to leave for the race, I only need to be partially funded. That being said, I cannot have a pile of pledges. I need around $6,500 in my account, and if I have pledges beyond that- AWESOME! Ideally, I’d love to be fully funded so that I don’t have to worry about it on the race.
So, WHAT will I be doing?
Your guess is as good as mine. We will be working with either local churches or organizations, whatever they may be. Things change, plans shift, so we are flexible. I could be doing construction, ministering to women being saved from sex- trafficking, working with orphans, doing bar ministry, anything to proclaim the gospel.
I will be asking people to partner with me in four different ways:
Level 1: 10/month (Or a 1 time donation of $120)
Level 2: 20/month (Or a 1 time donation of $240)
Level 3: 30/month (Or a 1 time donation of $360)
OR you can give a donation/ donations of the amount you desire.
