6 kilos of beans
1/2 kilo of super spicy peppers
10 cloves of garlic
15 onions
1 large bag of tomatoes
2 bags of pasta
and a lot of laughs later….
and we made chili for the guys at the rest house – the guys who have become our family and the men of God who have taught us each so much about hope, serving others, and loving people well.
Thanksgiving at the rest house was easily my favorite day on the race so far. I have never laughed so hard, smiled so big or felt so loved by people I have only known for a matter of weeks.
And there was a dance party…to Michael Jackson.
It was such a beautiful day and I’m so thankful for each and every one of those guys. Almost all of them lived on the street for some period of time and yet they are the most joyful and passionate guys. They have nothing but praises to sing to Jesus.
I will never forget what it was like to sit around the campfire with them and sing “How He loves” and to look up at the sky and see all the stars and just sit in God’s goodness and glory. I have never felt so overjoyed.
“The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by on Spirit into one body – and we were all given the one Spirit to drink…But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be…But God has combined the members of the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.” – 1 Corinthians 12
Happy Thanksgiving!
