The sudden noise of sirens caught my attention. Not just one, but many…little did I know what was going on at the other end of the village, who was involved, or the seriousness of the commotion!
We have been blessed this month to be staying in a small village in Romania. This village is a Gypsy village and has been bombarded with nearly 100 “Americans” the past few weeks. We have been touched, blessed and encouraged. We have already faced sickness and warfare…but the battle has not stopped there!!
Two of our translators that are staying with us at the Fracker’s house, were in a serious accident…the sirens had been for them! Their lives flashed before their eyes. God intervened in miraculous ways. Though the car was demolished, after flipping and crashing into a cement pole and fence, the guys walked away with bumps and bruises…they are alive! Praise the Lord. One lady, however, did pass away in the event of the accident…and our hearts go out to her family!
This night brought back many memories of my accident 14 years ago. It has been something I have been holding onto and letting it define me…but no more! I broke down to my Squad during our last debrief, and have asked for accountability, prayer and healing. It’s no longer about what I can’t do (or even eat), but about what God can do in and through me! I am no longer that person, who was broken, damaged and in pain – I am a new creation, a royal priesthood, a daughter of the King who is free, alive and living and walking by faith!
The shock of the night hit me hard. It was a long night of intercession, tears and hugs…yet giving the focus and glory to a great and mighty God who saved lives! We never know when our last breath will be…but I know that God holds it in His hands and that I can walk in His ways. In the blink of an eye, a life can end! In the blink of an eye, a lot can happen!
A few days ago, one of our teams lost a friend that they ministered to and with in Swaziland to AIDS. (read Seth Barnes blog). I also recently found out that the lady my team ministered to in Cambodia with AIDS passed away a few weeks ago, and now her husband is fighting this disease as well! People we have loved, we have lost…yet it is not the end. God has a purpose!
One of the guys in the accident, Tony, is to be baptized on Sunday. To hear his story and him say that God’s hands were in it all made my day! God has a plan for his life greater than what any of us know or realize! He saw the miracle of God and a divine purpose for the survival of allinvolved!
It’s never to late to pray, to serve, to seek, to build relationships, to do what God has called us to, until, in the blink of an eye, our life has ended! In the blink of an eye, it doesn’t have to end there…our legacy will live on! Let His name be glorified, at all costs!! We can’t get back what is lost, but we can look to who hold tomorrow and make the most of today! Let us not miss a moment or an opportunity to love, and give all we can with no looking back, no regrets and no fear of death! Living with the power of God in us!
