This was an e-mail sent out before I left for Lesotho. Some of you may have read it, but I wanted to included it as a blog for those that did not get the update! It also is a preface to the blogs to come!
It has come to that time again – to bit farewell to another Country and another month on the Race, to spend a few days processing – and then moving on to another Country, our last one in Africa! It is surreal to think about how fast this time has gone, and that in just over a month, we will be heading to Europe!
Swaziland left a lasting impression on all of our hearts! The children loved us beyond words and opened our eyes to see the needs “outside of the box.” It was hard to leave, but we new that it was something we had to do. Moving on is apart of this journey.
The team, along with Koinonia, was in Durban for Debrief. It was not a typical debrief, as each team was on their own to go wherever to “relax” for a few days on our way to our new Country…so, we hit up Durban. Everything and anything we could think about doing, we tried to attempt…from surfing to skydiving…
staying in a hostel, praying, relaxing, and continuing to seek opportunities to minister to those around us at the hostel we are staying at! We enjoyed a night out as a group of friends, and have been able to rest and prepare ourselves for what is to come…more of the unknown!
We know that we are heading to Lesotho. We know that Cameron, my “little brother” on the race, is coming with us. We know we are leaving Saturday (tomorrow) to head to the mountainous roads, where we are expecting snow and cold weather. We know that God has already begun to prepare hearts and open the doors for us to go. We have a place to sleep…and it’s once again NOT in our tents! We have a “destination” point – Mt. Moorosi. We have each other…and we have God!
This month is another ATL month. Our second one of the year. It’s already looking a lot different than our last one. We do not have a contact in Lesotho (although we do know people there in case something arises) and we know that the journey is apart of the destination, so are trying to be excited and open minded for what is to come!
I know that the place we are staying does not have electricity…so I’m guessing we’ll be in bed earlier than usual and up at the break of day. I’m also assuming that this means internet access will be non-existent. God has asked something of me that I’m not to excited about, yet want to be obedient with – he has asked me to FAST! It’s not your “typical” food fast. In fact it is a fast from what I love and am passionate about…communication with the people I love (family and friends). Then, to add to it, a fast from photography! He has asked me to lay down my passion, gift and love for capturing the little moments around me, so that he can capture my heart and I can be fully attentive to him, rather than others! This will be hard, as I know the mountain ranges are going to be glorious and there are going to be many opportunities and times when I wish I could have a camera in hand – however, I do believe that through this fast and time, that God is going to bless me beyond words, and move and take me to new heights!
I am stoked for what is to come, and know that God is with us and encouraging us through all things!
