It has been said that miracles happen in Africa. Why here? Why don’t we
see them at home, even though they take place all around us? It becomes
exciting to anticipate seeing people get healed, miracles and God doing
extra-ordinary things!

Yet, we are also told to not put God to the test…so when we find out
someone has the gift of healing – do we run to them and ask them to
pray for healing and forget about God and the anointing of the Holy
Spirit. Often, we sit praying with our eyes open, TESTING GOD by
waiting for a miracle through the words we say rather than TRUSTING GOD and
letting HIM intervene and do the unthinkable! He knows the intentions
of our hearts. He wants us to have a pure heart when we come to him in
prayer, asking for the “impossible!”

Miracles come in many forms. As the medical clinic “pharmacist” I
watched God multiply the medication we had on numerous occasions. I
would sit down with Felix the night before a clinic and sort through
the medicine, putting together the inventory for the next day – praying
and trusting God that we bring what is needed and have enough to go
around! How are we to know who has what when we don’t even know who we
will be seeing or what sickness these patients have? We didn’t, but God
did!

Arriving at CLC for the clinic was unreal – there were more people
there than expected. Do we turn some of them away? How can we possibly see
them ALL before dark? How is there going to be enough medicine for
everyone? So many questions and emotions filled our spirits. We quickly
knew that the devil was trying to attack, so we bowed our heads and
committed the day to the Lord. He’s the ultimate healer – the great
physician! It wasn’t the medicine or diagnosis that was going to heal
the sick – it was Jesus!

These people needed more than medicine. They needed more than a Doctor
or nurse. They came to where we were because of the hope and love that
was offered. Yes, the service we offered was free…but it was so much
more than that. There was a heart behind it. There was meaning.
Everyone who walked through the doors got prayed for. The Holy Spirit
was moving…and in more ways than just the physical. Some of these
battles were more than the physical – many were spiritual battles!

We washed kids that had scabies. We loved on children that were afraid
to get their temperatures taken. Our hearts broke as we looked into
many eyes to see the pain and heartache they are experiencing. How do
we sit and tell men, women and children that they need to be tested for
HIV/Aids or TB?

The multiplication of the medicine was just the beginning of the
miracles I have seen in my short time in Africa. It was God asking me
if I trusted Him enough to see bigger things? He was calling me to be
anointed by the Spirit to have a divine faith that can move mountains.
Was I ready for what was to come? Only time will tell!
