…I’ll turn back to Praise!!!
God is good! This is Africa. This is what I’ve been waiting for….yet not what I expected!
I am not camping. I am not freezing. I am not hiding out in my tent after dark, killing big bugs, cooking over a fire or using the wilderness as a bathroom..
I DO, however, have a bed to sleep in. There’s electricity most of the time (however we never know when it will shut off or come back on). There’s hot, running water. Flushing toilets that we can flush the toilet paper. My stomach is full. I am drinking as much tea as I can drink. I am living what we would call World Race luxury with a family that has adopted me as a daughter, sister and friend. I am blessed beyond words!
I sit here, looking over a valley as the mountains surround me and the stars at night light up the sky. I am captivated by God’s presence and beauty every day. love watching the sun set behind the mountains and feeling God’s presence around me!
So, here I am. Zimbabwe. I have nothing to complain about. I am home. I have an African family I do not want to leave. They have a special place in my heart. They have captured it in every way…not just the family I live with, but the members of the ministy we have been working with – Pastor Brian, Felix and Tapiwa! What a blessing and inspiration! I love laughing, crying, talking and praying with them. I love sitting and cuddling without saying a word, praising God by listening to music and singing in harmony at the top of our lungs, catching, cooking and killing our dinner (yes, welcome to the world of Chicken Farming and food on the World Race) and lots of love, hugs, prayers and encouragement!
God knew this is where we needed to be. We are the first World Race team to be here and hopefully and prayerfully we will not be the last. It may not be what I expected, but I am blessed once again and that goes without saying how great our God is – that He chose us to be apart of something that will forever cahnge my heart!
This is where we needed to be….to be encouraged in our faith, challanged in the spiritual gifts God is manifesting in us, and a chance to build long-lasting relationships and a desire for this Nation!
This is Africa. This is Zimbabwe…the hearts are calling, and God is answering!
