Christmas was different this year. It was quiet. It was intimate.
It was fun. It was…so much more than I could have imagined it to be.
Maybe it is because I was not expecting to get a lot, because I don’t need a lot or want a lot. Maybe it was because my sister and brother and their spouses were not “home” with us. Maybe it was because I just “did not care” the same about presents and how typically busy the holiday can be. Shopping was overrated. I wanted the gifts I gave to mean something more than the money I spent – I wanted it to be a blessing to the person I was giving the gift to – leave a lasting impression – and have something that they can benefit from. I wanted it to be special and be something they can use to bless others or be blessed themselves!
Whatever it was, it was a change, and I enjoyed it. I got talking to so many people the last few days and began to realize one thing…I enjoyed GIVING this year in more ways than I have before. I loved watching the JOY come over people’s faces as they opened gifts from loved ones – and stepping into the “unknown” world of what laid beneath the beautiful wrapping paper, bows and boxes!
This Christmas was a Christmas to remember. I laughed. I cried. I missed those who are now celebrating Christmas with Jesus in Heaven, rather than here on Earth. So many memories to express and bring to life! The saying “It’s better to
GIVE than
RECEIVE” came to
LIFE this Christmas! God
GAVE us
HIS SON…His gift to us is the greatest gift of all! Have you received it?
These are just SOME of the amazing things about Christmas…
*Getting together with family and friends. *Walks in the cold.
*The glistening snow.
*Playing games.
*Singing Christmas Carols.
*Reading the Christmas Story.
*Christmas Eve Sunday School Programs.
…and SO MUCH more!
I am BLESSED beyond words!
Merry Christmas one and all. “For unto US is born this day a SAVIOR who is CHRIST THE LORD” Luke 2:11
