Finally we are in Guatemala…Launch was rough for me, a lot of spiritual warfare but God overcame it on my behalf. Praise the Lord!
This month the whole squad has been living together and it has been radical and amazing! We are living in a compound which is next to a hospital that serves about 1 million people. We live in our tent city which has actually been fantastic. I wasn’t prepared to livein my tent but it’s nice to have my own space, yet I wasn’t prepared for Guatemala to be freezing at night.

We’ve been learning to live in constant community which takes adjusting. Different groups are set up throughout the week to set food budgets, buy food, and cook it. We’ve been blessed with squadmates who are gifted at organizing so we’ve been able to have healthy and delicious food. It’s been amazing to eat meals together and learn to live within a community. We have opportunities to workout in the mornings at around 7 am and start the day off right. My favorite part has been communal worship; this squad is blessed with many talented musicians, and I’m thankful to benefit from it!!
This squad is amazing. And it’s just the beginning. The genuine and raw emotion that has come to the surface of squad time is unreal. Many stories have been told and many hearts are being healed. Friends are willing to stop what they are doing to pray and fight for one another. The passion I’ve experienced with these friends is like no other. The presence of the Lord rests in these people and overflows from their actions and words. It’s truly beautiful. Thankful for these people and the way they love me.

Two teams are working at Casa de mi Padre. An orphanage with 22 kids and about 5 adults work there. My team is learning how to run the orphanage so that the workers can have a mini vacation (2-3 days) and we’ll stay there! We are learning to cook Guatemalan food, wash dishes, clean, do laundry, help with homework, and all other stuff that mommas do! I love it. I love the kids. When I first got there my heart felt like it was singing. Hearing sweet little Spanish voices, hugging precious kiddos, and getting kisses from the toddlers. I love it. I don’t want to work in an orphanage the whole year but God knew this was perfect for me. Many of the kids have been sexually abused so we are hoping to find ways to speak truth into their lives and show them how much they mean to their heavenly father.

Oh and trying to learn Spanish…humbling since every time I say something it comes out as French, woops.
LOVE to you my dear friends at home!
Cheers to raw & Spirit filled community and precious Guatemalan kiddos,
Jen
