It is my 22nd birthday today! In my house birthdays are a huge deal we start the morning with breakfast in bed and the entire day revolves around us. I will be taking the day off work going for a run with my mom, and out to lunch. I will get dressed up do my hair and get all pretty. Then after everyone works we will go out to dinner and I will open presents. This year’s presents will look completely different as I am preparing for my race but still there will be a lot to open. Twenty two years and I have had such an easy life. I have the opportunity to be completely spoiled not only on my birthday but most days of the year.
By my birthday next year I will be on the second to last month of my race. My birthday will not be all about me but about who I can help on the field. It is crazy to think that one year from now I will be almost done with this crazy adventure. I don’t know what in store for me on this race but I know that I will have grown more in this year then I have in any other year. I know that I will learn more about myself than ever before. I know that I will meet so many more people then I have in the past 22 years. I am so excited to be able to sit down one year from now and write a blog about what my birthday looks like on the race and all that I have learned in the year. So here’s to being 22 and can’t wait to see what this year brings.
I found this quote on pinterest a few months ago and I think it describes my next year!
“If you’re 22, physically fit, hungry to learn and be better, I urge you to travel- as far and as widely as possible. Sleep on floors if you have to. Find out how other people live and eat and cook. Learn from them-wherever you go.” –Anthony Bourdain
