Hey OHHH
This month I will continue living with my team (team Jigsaw) as well as another team! We live with our host in his home with his family, Pastor Blessings. This means there will be 14 women in one house hold! We have three rooms, we sleep on our sleeping pads which I love because it feels like a month long sleep over! In the past my hosts have provided our meals which was great but last month and this month we cook for our selves! I think I posted a picture once and said ‘If you need more Jesus, cook a meal with people’ and that's exactly what we have been doing.
Coming on this trip everyone thought we wouldn’t be eating much or much of normal foods we are use to but shocker we eat pretty well! Here are a few fun things we cook grilled cheese, french toast (yes for lunch and dinner), rice & beans, pasta, mango rice and chicken.
One day Tara H. and I were in charge of lunch so we sliced potatoes to make scallop potatoes and cracked a can of green beans.. Sometimes we throw together whatever we have and it always turns out delicious! For a sweet treat one night Annie popped popcorn and melted marshmallows in the pop corn! It was a TREAT YOURSELF kinda night.
MALAWI. I am still trying to understand why I am constantly brought back to this country. I know a big part of my heart is for the people and the beautiful ways God works. My experience with World Race has been very different than my experience with my church. Different in good ways.
This last month our ministry was different every day so here is a glimpse of our week
Sundays we go to church and two of us preach and two of us share testimonies, then afterwards we normally go into town to refill our water jugs and buy any groceries we may need for the week.
Mondays are OFF days! Relax, hangout, find decent wifi, use public transport and talk to Corbin.:)
Tuesdays we go into the city to a hair salon where we partake in a bible study. The salon shuts down a hour early for us to come and share the word. Its something I would never imagined I would do as a ministry in Africa but am glad to be apart of, it’s a great example of how ministry could look like back home.
Wednesdays are when we go to Feed the Nations center to help with their feeding program and support the widows group.
Thursdays! I always love Thursdays, it seems that all good things take place on Thursday like new episodes of Greys Anatomy even though the show has gone done the gutter. But anyways on Thursday we go to the soccer fields and play with the local boys team then after the practice someone shares a bible story, encouragement and a testimony.
Friday s we cuddle babies. This is a Crisis center where they take in abandoned babies and care for them until they can be adopted or be placed with a family guardian. I believe the organization was formed by a couple from the UK and the facility is a beautiful home with really wonderful woman working there full time. What we do is come in cuddle with the little ones and just love on them. I love children but have never felt super connected with babies but now I could sit all day in a rocking chair holding a baby.
Saturday changes but we went to a youth group one week and hung out at home.
That's what my last month looked like and what this month will look like!
I haven’t been able to go back to the villages that I went to before but I am in contact with some of the people at the office and hope to work something out for this upcoming month. I can’t imagine coming to Malawi and not seeing Mrs. Lucy.
Oh! As you saw on facebook I was in Zambia for about three days with a few other girls. We planned a trip to see Victoria Falls and to bungee jump of the bridge!! My good friend Annie wrote a very thorough blog about our very sketchy travel experience so if you are interested in hearing the story, find her blog ( anniekane.theworldrace.org ). If you are my aunt Jennifur please don’t, it won’t do you any good. Zambia was beautiful! I love being able to travel and see the what you would see in a National Geographic magizine but in real life!
Prayers Please!
BIBlES, people are hungry for the word of God but don’t have it. Pray for bibles for the people in Malawi, pray that God can provide.
DENGUE, in mare we are going to the Philippines were it may be likely to catch the lovely mosquitoes born disease. It is very dangerous to catch dengue twice and many people on my squad including myself have had it. Please pray for our health and that God protects us the three months we are there.
GEORGE, last Sunday after church the Pastor’s wife, Grace, took us to a man who was very ill and needed prayer. His knee was very swollen and his whole body in achy pain.
SORRY FOR MY LACK IN POSTS, PICTURES AND BLOGS! My life seems very normal to me now and I forget how many stories I have to share. I love you all and all your support. I am doing swell and I have my
