The holidays are hard. I usually like the holidays, but this year has been different. I now know that every holiday the following year, I’m not going to be near my family or friends. I’m not going to be able to enjoy the comforts of home or do any kind of traditional holiday activities. It’s hard knowing that I don’t know where I’ll be for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or most recently my birthday.
I try not to let these things discourage me, because while I won’t be with my family and friends as years past, I’ll be with my new World Race family, my new community. And even though the holidays won’t look the same, they’ll be incredible in their own ways. So if I know all this, why in the world do I get sad or scared every time a holiday comes around?
Because I’m human. And it’s hard for me to know this and let myself be upset by these trivial worries.
I was at Passion Conference in Atlanta this weekend, and I could feel God speaking to me through verses, speakers, and worship songs. This blog is dedicated to all those that helped me through the weekend (and prior to), and I hope they can be an encouragement to any other racers dealing with the same issues. (I hope I’m not the only one…haha)
