Hey there! Welcome to my blog! So from the few people I’ve told about The World Race, I have a few common questions that seem to come up. Below are those questions and my responses. These are much shorter versions of the answers, but you’ll get the idea!

What is The World Race?

The World Race is an 11-month missions trip to 11 different countries. In each country, I will have a new ministry to work with. I believe the World Race website says it best:

Have you ever wondered if there’s something more out there? If there’s more to life than empty traditions, routines, and working 9-5 everyday to achieve the impossibility of the American dream?

It’s because there is.

There is a generation of radicals whose heartbeat is to see a changed world. It’s a generation that’s dissatisfied with the status quo and is actively rising to the challenge of seeing the world transformed through tangible expressions of God’s love. World Racers are seeing lives changed in nations all over the world.

Where will you be going?

The countries I will be going to are: Guatemala, Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica, Japan, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Swaziland, Botswana, and South Africa!

What will you be doing?

To be honest, I have no idea! Every country I go to I will be working in a different ministry, and I won’t find out what I’ll be doing in each country until I get there or shortly before. One month I could be building a school, the next working in an orphanage and loving on the kids, the next I could be ministering in a hospital, or befriending prostitutes and sharing the Gospel. I’m excited for total abandonment and not having any expectations; it will be a terrifying but exhilarating change of pace.

Why are you going on the World Race?

I firmly believe that the World Race will help me build a Christ-centered foundation for life, where I can solely rely on and trust that God is guiding my life. I want to enter into a state of brokenness and uncomfortability in order to grow closer to my Savior. I want to serve “the least of these” and love on people who don’t know Jesus, and may have never even heard of Him. Please watch this video! It will explain why I want to go much better than I can put into words: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPOZNkXIjKc

 How can I help?

I’m so glad you asked! The World Race requires each “racer” to raise funds that cover all expenses like travel, food, lodging, and insurance for the 11 months.  In order to leave fully funded by September 2014, I will need $16,284.  As I take this leap of faith in trusting the Lord for His calling on my life, would you please prayerfully consider joining me by donating $100 or another amount?

Please make checks or money orders payable to Adventures in Missions with “In support of Jenna Orabutt” on the memo line. Please mail the donation to:

Most importantly, I ask you for prayers! There is no possible way for me to go out into the world to share the great name of Jesus with the nations if I do not have an army behind me praying.
