Merry Christmas!

As we take the time out of our busy lives, crazy schedules, and demanding days to celebrate this Holiday Season we come to realize how much we’ve missed in the lives of those around us. That’s why I love Christmas cards – the chance to catch up with what’s going on in each other’s lives!
For me, it’s been a long and a short year. As I finished my training program at the end of last year, this year was my first official foray into Assistant Directing. I am proud to report – I have survived! Haha. It’s been an interesting adventure, to say the least. I started out the year with some day play (hired for the day) work on various shows (Criminal Minds, Outsourced, The Forgotten, etc…), before spending my summer interning with the Literary Manager who represents the writers of the new Robin Hood movie which premiered in May. It was an interesting experience, but I found that it was not my cup of tea. And so, back to ADing I went. At the end of July, I signed on as the 2nd 2nd AD for the 2nd Season of Men of A Certain Age. A long, exciting, eventful journey that brings us to now – Christmas 2010.
As to the future, well, it turns out that might be long, exciting, and eventful as well. I have been contemplating the idea of going on a mission trip since… well, since I can remember, but nothing was ever concrete. I always thought, well, that would be something nice to do. It would be great to contribute, to do something important and meaningful. It would be nice to visit some place other than my comfortable surroundings and see the real world, to gain some perspective. But that’s all I did – think, contemplate, stew… until now. I have signed up and been accepted to Adventures in Missions (AIM) – World Race. It is an 11 month, 11 country mission trip which will take me to Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Eastern Europe, South Africa, Mozambique, Swaziland, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam. There I will be partnering with existing missions in those countries to build homes, schools, and churches, work with orphans and the sick, and speak to the local communities about God and what he has done in and for my life. I leave July 2011.
You might ask why? Why now? And all I can say is because I can think of nothing else. I wake in the morning and think of this mission. I go through my day and contemplate ways I can fundraise. I go to bed at night and pray God will provide me the courage to go. All I can say is that I truly feel God is calling me to be here, at this mission, in this place, and at this time. I think there is something greater I need to learn, something bigger I need to be, something more I need to contribute, and I believe God is telling me this is the way I need to do it.
And so to you, my family and friends, this Holiday Season I would ask you to please put some prayerful consideration into sponsoring me on my journey – whether through prayer, financial donations, or fundraising advice/support.
There you have it… my past, my present, and hopefully my future. I am truly humbled and honored to be a part of this family. I love you all and pray this card finds you happy and healthy this Holiday Season. May your Christmas be merry, your New Year bright, and may all your dreams come true!

                                                            God Bless,
                                                                         Jenna
