During our last week of ministry, we spent Tuesday and Wednesday helping out at a seminar for third and fourth year high school students (14-16 year olds on average).  The seminar is put on every year and is mandatory for all third and fourth year students.  During the eight hour day, there are speakers who talk about being a good student, self image and purity.  As World Racers, we were in charge of leading small groups after each lecture.  So yes, this means we had the wonderful job of talking to the teenagers about purity.  Fortunately, (or not) we were given a set of questions to go through in our small groups.

Other parts of the day were filled with games, ice breakers, flash mob practice, and worship.  Little did we realize, these students were not from the Christian high school.  They were from the National School.  The public school!

Not only did all the students participate in praise songs, but the lectures and discussions were biblically based, there were even bible verses for them to memorize.  Growing up in a place of “separation of church and state” and coming from a month in China where I couldn’t even say I was a missionary, this kind of blew my mind.  There I was, worshiping God at a mandatory event for students from the public school.

I don’t really have a way to end this blog, it just gave me something to think about so I wanted to share.
