This month in the Philippines my team along with another team is down on the island of Mindanao working with Kids International Ministries. We live at a camp site near the children’s home. Every morning we do a work project for the camp which consists of anything from moving rocks to pouring concrete to filling boxes with rice packets.
In the afternoon our ministries differ. Some people work up in the Children’s Home helping with meals or playing with kids. Others go on house visits or meet with the local people. In the evenings we help the kids with their homework and at night we go to the local college for their campus ministries. I love going to the college ministries because they remind me of going to CRU back at NDSU!
On Saturdays we help with their local Awana’s program. I help with the really little kids and quickly found my favorite little girl ever! After two Saturday’s hanging out with her, I still don’t know her name because, although she talks all the time, she doesn’t seem to speak any English. But it’s been a blast helping the little ones sing songs and copy our prayers and learn bible verses. I wish we could do that every day! (Sorry there's no picture, the internet won't let me add one…)
Our days here are pretty full, but also pretty enjoyable. Other than work projects, we get to pick which ministries which means we all get to do things we enjoy and find fulfilling. Such a great way to end my eleven month journey!
