The
other week someone got a vision for our project. It was a picture of two mountains: one mountain being earth, and the
other being heaven, and there was a bridge connecting the two mountains and
within that bridge was the word OBEDIENCE.
As I was
sitting and looking at our team, I felt like for a split second I could see
what the Lord saw. I asked the Lord why He would put something so BIG in the
hands of 6 people in their 20’s; why would He entrust breaking cycles of
poverty, restoring people, and bringing the Kingdom of God to a foreign place to
a group of kids who know nothing? And clearer than ever I hear Him speak, “I
choose to use you because you are willing. It’s not because you are well informed, or you have wisdom, or you are
educated …it’s because you are willing. If you look at who the Lord
chooses to use, usually they are outcasts, the people that in the eyes of the
world can’t do anything. But those are the ones who are willing; they have
nothing to lose. I mean the Kingdom of God is backwards, isn’t it?
“But God
chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak
things of the world to shame the strong. He shoes the lowly things of this
world and the despised things-and the things that are not-to nullify the things
that are, so that no one may boast before him. It is because of him that you
are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God-that is, our
righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written; ‘Let him
who boasts boast in the Lord.’ 1 Corinthians 1:27-31
How much
cooler will it be when this thing is up and going that we will have to look
back and give all the glory to God, because we are just 6 twenty-something year
old’s who know nothing? It’s going to have to be all God! Isn’t that how He
wants it anyway? He just wants an empty, willing, vessel who is not afraid to
lose everything. He will do the rest!
There is
something to be said about being committed to the heartbeat of the Lord. It’s not about
what you decide to do, but it’s about being willing to do anything because you
are choosing to be a part of the DNA of God. Now I am NOT saying that I am an
expert at this, because most of the time I am not following the DNA of God, and
honestly most of the time I am unwilling, but I have to remember that the Lord
loves when we try, all He wants is an open heart.
What does the heart of God beat for? And choose
that. That is all He wants… people who choose Him.
So my
prayer is that when I choose to give my all to the Lord, that He will make something beautiful out of me.
I trust that He will make something beautiful out of me.
