Ephesians 3:7-21
“I
became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God’s grace given me by the working of His POWER.
Although I am less of the least of all God’s people, this grace was given to me: to preach to
the Gentiles, the unsearchable riches of Christ, and to make plain to everyone
the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God,
who created all things. His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be
made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, according to
His eternal purpose
which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord. In Him and through
Faith in Him we may approach God with freedom and confidence. I ask
you therefore, not to be discouraged because of my sufferings for you, which
are your glory.
For this
reason, I kneel before the Father, from whom His whole family in heaven and on
earth derives its name. I pray that out of His glorious riches He may
strengthen you with POWER through the Spirit in your inner being, so that
Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I
pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have POWER,
together with all the saints, to grasp how w
i d e and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know
this love that surpasses knowledge- that you might be filled to the measure of
all the fullness of God. Now to
Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine,
according to His POWER that is at work within us, to Him be the glory in
the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations, forever and ever!
Amen.�
I love this letter that Paul writes to the church in
Ephesus. I think it is so powerful. I love how Paul admits that he is probably
less of the least of God’s people but STILL
God covered him with His grace and is allowing Paul to carry out His
work. Gosh, this is so INCREDIBLE, that God would choose us, who are NOTHING, to preach His word and to love
people, that God wants to use the church (us, we are the church) to carry out
His work and His plan. How lucky are
we???? Because God has empowered us to do this in His name, we can come to
Him in FREEDOM and CONFIDENCE knowing who we are in His name.
There are no more chains holding us back and we can be completely secure in the
fact that God has called us His children. We can be CONFIDENT in that truth!
And because of the POWER, POWER, POWER,
POWER (he says it four times) of the Holy Spirit we can experience what
TRUE love is: love that
will never FAIL, love that penetrates all things, love that is selfless, love
that comes from our Father. So let’s not put this box around God, because He
can and He will do “immeasurably more that we ask or imagine� and He will do
those things through us…if we are willing.
