“In him
we were also chosen, having
been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in
conformity with the purpose of his will, in order that we, who were the first
to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. And you also
were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your
salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the
promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance
until the redemption of those who are God’s possession– to the praise
of His glory. Ephesians
1:13-14
Yes Lord!
Ahhh… this passage makes me so excited! This week at my
church we are starting a new series call “Fire Starters, and studying
Ephesians 1-3. But as I was reading through this, I stumbled upon this short
section in the middle of Ephesians 1. The
thing I love about God is that he brings a new light to passages in the bible
every time I read them. I can’t tell you how many times I have probably
read over this passage, but He still shows me NEW things every single time! Got to love Him!
We are CHOSEN!!!!! Amen!
Thank you Jesus that you would pick me to do your work. Gosh, I think so often
we take this for granted; that He would be gracious enough to CHOSE me to
participate in His Kingdom. Every great thing that my flesh desires does not
even come close to the greatness that the Kingdom of God holds for me. So…let
us be so ever thankful for the opportunity to serve in this mighty MIGHTY
kingdom.
We are not just chosen, we are chosen to for the purpose
of His will- for the praise of His glory. All the glory
goes to Him! What a humbling statement. ALL the glory goes to Him. Wake up call
here. We are not created for ourselves. That is NOT the
purpose of our lives here on earth. WE
ARE CREATED FOR HIM AND HIM ALONE. It is time to get over
ourselves, our lives, our plans, our struggles, and start focusing on bringing
the one who created us and everything on this earth GLORY. He deserves it all!
And my favorite part…you
were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit…
Seal:
noun. A device or substance that is used to join two things together so as to
prevent them from coming apart or to prevent anything from passing between
them.
I
absolutely love this visual that Paul uses. This seal, the Holy Spirit, is to keep us and God together
so NOTHING can tear us apart and so nothing can pass between us. SO AWESOME!
Thank
you for letting share my excitement with you! Ahhh, I get so fired up! As a lot
of you probably know I am having a get-together at my house on AUG 15th
from 5-7pm where I am going to share the vision that God has placed on my heart
for the people in Kenya and what He has planned next for my life. I would love
it if you could come! Food will be provided. Please contact me if you can join
us! Thanks again for all your prayers!
