I heard this story from a friend this week (thanks Jill).
This guy comes up and offers you a crisp, straight from
the press, $100 bill. It almost looks fake because it is so new. Do you take
it? Heck yes, you do. It’s
$100. And it’s free. Now, another guy comes up and offers you
a $100 bill. But this bill, you can tell, has had its fair share of harsh
times. It looks like it has been wadded up in someone’s pocket forever, that it
has been run over a few times, and it is torn in several places. You can barely
see the face on the front because of all the dirt. Do you still take it?
Hello…. You would be stupid not to right?! It’s STILL $100. The value of that bill has NOT changed. No
matter how beat up it may look, or no matter what that bill has been through,
it is still $100.
Can you
see where this is going yet? God has been reminding me a lot
lately about my worth in His eyes. God has allowed YOU to have the testimony
you have for a reason. Some have had a relatively easy life, and some have been
to hell and back. But the things that you have done and the things that you
have gone through will NEVER change your value and worth in God’s eyes. He sees us all the same.
We are all $100 whether we are torn and beaten, or whether we are brand
spanking new. Lets quit comparing
ourselves to other people, or believing the lies that we can’t do God’s work
because of our pasts. We are ALL beautiful,
loved, adored, valued, by the King of Kings. Know your worth to the
Father. Here is a quote I would love to end with:
“Orphans
generally possess a low self-image and an attitude of self-rejection, which
results from comparing themselves to others and feeling that they come out on
the short end of the stick. Others seem more blessed. Others seem more loved.
Others seem to get all the breaks. Sons feel positive and affirmed because they
know how valuable and precious they are to their Father. No matter what they do
or how many times they mess up, they know that Father loves them anyway. They
can pick themselves up and keep going because, feeling secure in Father’s love,
they know that they can do or be anything. (Jack Frost)
Let’s be sons and daughters and remember who our Father is.
