In the spirit of fun and giving you a glimpse into what life is like on the World Race, here is the list (so far!) of what life has been like for my teammates and I, now at the end of Month 3 on the World Race! My teammates helped me to write these- Thank you Team Radiant!

Comment below on which on is your favorite, the funniest one, and which one you cannot believe or imagine being true for you! 

  1.  You decide to pitch your tent in your bedroom to get away from the bugs, to the amazement of some of your teammates
  2. Then you wonder if your mattress is small enough to fit, either inside or under your tent so you can have the best of both worlds #tentlife #bedsareablessing 
  3. You take your shower stuff to the mall and try to buy a shower but it’s 9 dollars for a cold shower so you nix the idea for a bucket shower at home instead
  4.  You take a baby wipe shower in a classroom without a door
  5.  You tell your teammates what you won’t ever take for granted again when you get home 
  6. You feel comfortable casually smashing a cockroach…and 2 scorpions , one of them that your teammate said was too big to smash #hulksmash
  7. You have a friendly mouse sleeping beside you on your pillow 
  8. When you can’t tell if it’s dirt or a tan
  9.  You have permanent sandal/flip flop tan lines that will most likely stay for the entire 11 months 
  10. When you have to flush the toilet with a bucket of water and you feel really lucky if it flushes with the third bucket 
  11. How much everyone comes to love peanut butter more than before and how fast it becomes a near “necessity” or one of the major food groups
  12. When you tell your teammates that you’re not sharing your peanut butter anymore
  13. When a washer and dryer sounds like the most unbelievable luxury ever
  14. When you have a clean pile, an “I’ve worn it once pile”, a “clean enough” pile and a really dirty pile #handwashing your clothes #no laundrymat
  15. When you start to learn the importance of going to the bathroom when it’s available
  16.  When you’re not really sure how clean “it” is, (for “it,” insert anything ) you use it anyway.
  17. You are not a certified teacher at all and you say you need to do your lesson plans
  18. You’re not hungry but you decide to eat anyway since you don’t always know when you will eat again when in fact you know you will have a plate full of food in the next 2 hours. 
  19. You have a dream of a teammate packing a box fan into their pack somehow …and are amazed thinking of how they fit it in 
  20. When you feel so blessed when someone shares something with you unexpectedly
  21. When you feel so loved when your teammates pray with you on the spot about something going on in your life 
  22. When you are excited for your squad leaders to visit you! #blessed #wisdom #lovepouredout 
  23. When you are amazed at how fast the month seems to go
  24. When you teach English on top of a mountain every day 
  25. When you learn how to sit in God’s presence on a mountaintop
  26. When you learn how to receive from God what you really need- He really does give us all we need- comfort, love, strength, hope, peace and joy #seek Him #He is waiting for you
  27. When you have to say “see you later” to a good friend on your squad going home and returning on the Race later after medical treatment for an injury. #beautifulprayerwarrior #weloveyouashley #return to us soon! #prayforashley
  28. When your students greet you with a hug to say good morning 
  29. When a student surprises you with a random hug and you feel so blessed and loved 
  30. When you get an egg smashed on your head for your birthday… and you realize it was actually fun! 
  31. When you have 30 people around you everyday for a month and you realize how loved you are… #allsquadmonth #loveit  #family #c4family  
  32. When You get a piñata for your birthday and it’s the most fun thing ever and so hilarious to see how people swing at it so ferociously #worldrace birthday #c4squadwarriors #kidsatheart #c4rules  
  33. When you get a photo scavenger hunt challenge and you’re so excited and start planning how to get it done!  
  34. When you are so blessed to have a Kiwi on your squad!  #newzealand #c4rules #squadfamily #welovelucie 
  35. When you learn to do the New Zealand war dance they do before soccer games and your squad does it with zest and adds it to their skit for a school visit!  #c4spirit #c4alltheway # C-Squad warriors
  36. When you are so thankful to have a bed or even  a good place inside to put your tent!
  37. When you tell your teammate to watch out for the spider above them and then realize it’s actually just a ring hanging up on a string 
  38. When you laugh at how normal all these things become #missionarylife
  39. When you live on a mountain for a month and it feels like home right away 
  40. When you realize how hard to will be to say goodbye to the kids you’ve taught everyday for a month
  41. When you are thankful for the small things
