I love learning. At least half the time I spend online is used researching different things that I find interesting, from the concept of infinity to personality theory. My interests are very broad, and I just love to discover. I love to play with complicated concepts in my head, and I follow lots of rabbit trails until it brings me to absurdity. I can literally sit and entertain myself for hours just toying with ideas and trying to understand them from every angle. I love that God made such an intricate universe for us to learn, discover, and experiment. This may sound strange or boring to some people, but I love that God made me like this (I also love that God made people with so much variety that don't understand God in this way. It's so beautiful!).
This month our ministry contact, George, has been teaching us from Proverbs every morning. On the very first morning of going through Proverbs he started talking about how we will always be learning more about God and wisdom. In the United Kingdom when a person is learning how to drive a large letter 'L' is placed on the back of the car to alert other drivers on the road that the driver of that particular car is learning. Similarly, there should be a proverbial 'L' on each of our backs as we continue to learn how to drive our lives with God's wisdom.
I already knew that this year is going to be a year of further learning for me, but I'm realizing more and more that it will be in a completely different realm than what I'm used to. I will have less time to study and research my random interests (internet access is more difficult to come by in other areas of the world), but I will have lots of time to study God's word with a focus on the practical application. I have a lot of biblical knowledge (thank you Toccoa Falls College for my BA in Biblical Studies), but I will forever be a learner because there is always more to learn about God as He is bigger than what our minds can comprehend. I will never be bored as I get to know God better, and He is faithful to teach me how my knowledge should affect my lifestyle. I will forever get to pursue being more and more like Christ in every little detail of my life.
