This is a bit of a business blog more than anything else. I just got back from Training Camp, and I'm still processing what I want to share about it, so have patience, more exciting blogs are coming! But for now, a bit of news…
Anyone who has heard me talk about the Race has heard me rattle off the list of countries: Ireland, Romania, Ukraine, India, etc. Well, there has been a change. My squad will no longer be going to Ireland. Instead we will be headed to TURKEY. So in July we will be heading to the Middle East, not Western Europe. Instead of being in a Catholic country with no language barrier (for the most part) we will be in a Muslim country with a definite language barrier. This is a huge mental change, but I'm still super excited. I am disappointed that I will not be going to Ireland for various reasons, but God's plans are better than mine, and I'm super pumped to see what He has in store for us in Turkey (and may it PLEASE include falafel, shwarma, and Turkish delight).
Also, fundraising update! I currently have $6,284.93 in my account. Tonight, I counted my collection of change as well as other checks and cash that people have donated to me, and with that brings me up to $7,165.41. This surpasses my second fundraising deadline of $6,500 (needed by June 17)!! I still need $8,334.59 to be fully funded. It would be incredibly awesome to get there before I launch in July. Please prayerfully consider donating to my trip. You can click the "Support me" link on the left side of my blog and make a donation online. Please note that a processing fee will be added to the donation amount. You can also mail in a check made out to Adventures in Missions to P.O. Box 534470, Atlanta, GA 30353-4470. If you choose this option you MUST put my name [Jennifer Doll] on the memo line so that the money gets put in my account.
And to sum up my financial deadlines:
$3,500 – Due 2 weeks before Training Camp (Date to be determined)$6,500 – Due 6/17/2013 (2 weeks prior to your trip)- $11,000 – Due 10/1/2013 (End of 3 months on the field)
- $15,500 – Total Due 1/1/2014 (End of 6 months on the field)
