Manistry happened on the World Race G Squad!  All 14 men went to Enesampulai, Kenya, which was a small village in the mountains made up of mostly Maasai people.   To be honest I was a bit disappointed with the villagers being too “western.”  I was expecting the villagers to be wearing the traditional Sukas, but they were not.  Good news though, they were “true Maasai” and they had the burns, teeth, and walking sticks to prove it.  The elders had stories of lion hunts and initiations of the past, and we just loved it.  The actually ministry that we did was very typically of what we are used to here in Africa, preaching, lots of preaching.  I enjoyed the church we worked with, and the messages all of my teammates brought.  The community was very open to us and the church was very encouraged by our messages.  Joel the head pastor was only 22 years and he really was so humble and willing to learn.  The team worked well together and I loved spending time with the boyz, and to top off the experience 13 of us got the traditional Maasai decorations.  Maasai decorations are burns on the body made by a local tree leaf.  I got three burns on my shoulder and I could not make a face or sound during the burning or I would bring shame to my family.  Good thing it didn’t hurt, but in the past the Maasai boys had to be circumcised as an initiation and they could not make a face or a sound.  Wow, that is stepping it up a notch.   Not much meat in this blog but it is a good update and wrap up of Africa.  We leave for India on Friday.  My team is headed to Bangalore! I love you all.
