Mwanza, Tanzania…..City of Rocks……….month 3 in Africa.
Assignment……. Helping pastor Celsus spread the love of Jesus to his mostly Muslim community by doing house to house visits, crusades, and children’s programming.
Major players……Team Banah(my new team)……..pastor Celsus, Solomon, Lazarus, and the active youth group at the church.
Accommodations……3 beautiful houses(one even has a shower and a toilet)
Tanzanians………. Nice, don’t speak English, have a stable government, and seem organized
Impact ………. So far, just our presence has increased church attendance at the youth week church services. White people tend to bring a little shock value and curiosity to the locals. Lots of encouragement to the church’s youth group, and the youth groups in East Africa tend to be made up of teens through people in their mid 30’s. The only requirement is being single, so yes I am a youth!
My thoughts……… I really feel good about our team and what we are doing here! The church, the pastor, and the people are great here and the country is beautiful. Language is a problem but love is what binds us together so the language barrier is not that big. We have been praying for people and telling them about Jesus. The joy that I see in these church members is greater than I have seen previously here in East Africa. Praise the Lord!
