So we have been busy!
We are working in Mbita, Kenya in Suba District along side of several
local churches and S.E.E.K. (Suba Enviromental Education of Kenya). Paul is our contact here and his job includes
working with local youth and setting up ministries for them. So we have been involve in several youth
rallies, which are interdominational and that is a huge deal here. I have been preaching at local churches,
visiting hospitals and praying for the sick, and speaking at local “crusades”
which involve “door to door” visits. The
people here are struggling to survive and a spirit of hopelessness is
around. Suba District has the highest
HIV rate in Kenya and Mbita has the highest rate in Suba. Good news though, our local ministers and
missionaries are bringing hope and joy with their powerful, Spirit-filled
presence. I am so impressed with my
Kenyan brothers and sister. They know
Jesus very intimately and they have suffered much for the Lord. One example is my brother Hezron who lost
his parents at a young age, and eventually taken in here at SEEK. Since he has been following Jesus he has been
beaten, robbed, and suffered much. He
also has a smile on his face all the time, and he has a heart for the unreached
tribes in the bush. He has no interest
in going to the states or even the bigger African communities where people have
been told about Jesus. What a
heart! Hezron has been used by God to
bring woman out of prostitution, preach in local villages and beaches at a very
young age like 11 years old. He has seen
demons being cast and people becoming free! Hezron is just one of the many men of God
with similar stories.
Africa is so open, it is crazy that someone as
unqualified as me can talk about Jesus here to a crowd and get a huge response. I invited people at Nyagina beach area to
freedom, and they actually responded it was awesome to see people hungry for
the Lord. Thanks for reading this blog. I realize it is mostly just a midpoint recap
put into a blog, but I just wanted to get a little good news out!
