I feel like so many blogs start out this way and I’m going to join the ranks…

… I’m sorry it’s been so long since my last update (There. I did it. Don’t judge me).

A lot has happened since my last post. I got poison ivy a few times, my passenger side mirror got knocked off, I bought a new pair of shoes, I… You probably don’t really care about all this.

The World Race – that’s what this blog post is about. That’s right.

But honestly, since my last post I’ve been doing a lot in regards to preparing for my race and fundraising. My friend Jimmy and I made some homemade wooden porch furniture and we raffled those off. My sister is a missionary with YWAM and we were both able to raise about $400 each. That was a HUGE blessing that we’re praising God for.

I also had the amazing opportunity to go to Creation Music Festival with my friend Clay who was able to get us press passes. It was by far one of the craziest things I’ve ever experienced! I’ve been at musical festivals before. They’re smelly, loud, hot, and super amazing! But this one was, by far, so different. I was experiencing life at a music festival from “the other side”. I was in green room trailers, back stage, taking golf cart rides to security-protected areas that were roped off for bands and hanging out with musicians!

The most memorable part of my day was actually the reason we had wanted to go to the festival in the first place. I thought it would be helpful to raise money by having a band sign my Gibson Les Paul guitar and I could auction it off to raise support. Little did I know that Family Force 5 would be that band and that they would be so amazing and as supportive as they were (more coming about this soon)! Here’s a pic of that…

Their new CD, Time Stands Still, comes out 08/05/2014! Keep an eye out for it or you can visit http://www.familyforce5.com and pre-order a copy!

Also since my last post, God has brought an amazing woman into my life named Keri. She’s a woman after God’s own heart and a real example of what a life laid down in love and in pursuit of Jesus looks like! I can’t thank God enough for this blessing. I’ve never had someone push me and inspire me like she does. I tell her that she is refreshing and a breath of fresh air (I’m so cute and sappy, aren’t I?!). She’s leaving for her race in September of this year and if you could keep her and her squad in your prayers we would both appreciate it! God is going to do crazy amazing things through her and in her this next year. Here’s her blog if you’d like to stay up to date with her journey: www.keriannreyes.theworldrace.org

God’s been so gracious to me as I’ve stepped out and started to finally obey Him and do what He has asked me to do. I am overwhelmed by His goodness. It’s funny that my future is so much less predictable now than ever before but I’ve never had this much peace or assurance of anything before in my life. I’ve “Jonah’ed” it for so long now (my way of saying I was like the prophet Noah from the Bible and running away from the places God was calling me to and the things He wanted me to do) that mediocrity and comfort was something I was happy to hold on to but was miserable in so doing. Now, I’m excited to see all that God has already done and all the things He is most definitely GOING to do in the next few months and on my race.

John 3:30, “He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less!” That is the reason for all of this. Not just in my life but in any of our lives – God magnification and glorification; us taking God and His love to people where we are and to the ends of the earth! This isn’t self-promotion or trying to do things that make us feel good inside. My sister has a bible verse on her newsletter that explains this perfectly…

“But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned  me by the Lord Jesus – the world of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God!” – Acts 20:24

More updates and fundraisers coming soon! I pray you’re all doing well and are blessed!
