Yes, I am still alive.  I know that this is the longest that I have gone without blogging so I will do my best to summarize the month for you.  Needless to say there was a lot more that happened in Mozambique than I could possible mention here.

Anyways, my team and I stayed in our contact’s house for the month which was located in Maputo, Mozambique.  Some of us slept inside while others (including me) slept outside in our tents.  Our contacts (Anna and Felito) are super nice and they have an amazing vision for reaching the people of Africa for Christ.

The streets by our home

Our main ministry with “Africa on Fireâ€ consisted of house visits to church members and helping with outreaches.  For the home visits, we would pray with the household, sing, and then move on to the next home.  For outreaches, we would pack up the truck with sound equipment and then go to different locations around town.  We basically partner with a church that would like to do an outreach in their area.  Outreaches usually consisted of worship (which in Africa means lots of upbeat music and dancing!) followed by preaching and testimonies.  Our team rotated giving our testimonies and we spent a lot of time praying for individuals who came forward in need of prayer.

People during prayer at outreach

One of my favorite moments of the month happened during out first outreach.  At the end of the night everyone in the sandy streets of the village made a circle and sang “God Bless Africaâ€.  They then handed me the microphone and I was able to pray for the village.  It sounds simple but it was just one of those moments that I looked around at all the people as I prayed and you could tell that the Spirit was present.  It was so peaceful.

This month also brought us into a lot of contact with kids.  The kids here are so happy and they were such a blessing to interact with this month.  Whether it was showing them pictures of themselves or rolling a tire with them, they simply loved being with you and having your attention.

As for some random info, my tent was destroyed in the first week of the month by a dog, we had about a week of high winds and rain due to a cyclone which canceled ministry.  I also contracted a urinary tract infection which had similar symptoms to malaria.  So I went to the clinic to get my blood tested for malaria but it revealed the infection instead.  I am fine now.  It’s just a normal month on the race!

We also went on a side trip for a couple of days which I explain in my next blog: Thy Kingdom Come….  Please check it out!  It was an amazing and moving experience.

Again, so much happened and I look forward to telling you all about it in more detail when I see you again.  I guess that is the pain of not having internet.  I have to cram one month of ministry into a simple blog.  Ugh, well at least I get to share this much!

Love and miss you all!!
