As I am finishing up the last chapter of Captivating, I set
the book down to take the children to the park. The chapter ends with a request
to ask God to show you his beauty and to show what he created just for me.
I spent some time in prayer asking for these things and for my eyes to be
opened to His beautiful creations and the things he finds beauty in. I asked
him to romance me.
We spent time with the children in the park overlooking the
countryside of Nepal. The kids loved going to the park. They run, laugh, play
in dirt, you know all the things that make kids happy. On our walk back to the
orphanage we noticed the clouds were thick and low. Holding on to small hands
as we walk down the street, we look to the right and see the most amazing,
breathtaking, stop you in your tracts sigh I have ever seen. Literally!
Through two tall building and through all the murky clouds we
see the mountains exposed with their snow capped tips staring us in the face.
It was a scene straight out of National Geographic. They appeared close enough to
run up to and touch. Theresa, Jordan, and I stood still in the road and admired God’s
beautiful creation. For about 30 seconds none of us said a word. We hurried to
the orphanage to get to the roof for a better view. Once again we marveled
at his creation. We talked among ourselves for maybe 2 minutes, looked back and
there appeared a beautiful rainbow coming out of the mountains. It had not
rained that day. Now He was showing off, and we were absorbing every minute.
I immediately remember what I asked God for just earlier that morning.
This was for me. This moment was mine to keep forever. I knew pictures would
never do justice what we were seeing but I couldn’t resist trying to capture
it. I stood there on that roof and experienced God, my father, in a new and
intimate way. He loves me so much he wanted to romance me. Me! Of all people,
me. He delights in me and I in Him.
